10 questions you should ask at an aesthetic consultation

The first consultation decides the success of the operation. The questions to ask without hesitation — even if they might make the doctor uncomfortable.

The consultation is free, but that does not mean you should hold your words back. Ask these 10 questions without fail.

1. Is this procedure your main specialisation?

Is every plastic surgeon equally experienced in every procedure? No. A surgeon is particularly experienced in one or two areas.

2. How many of these procedures have you done in the past 12 months?

Fewer than 10 = little experience (risky). 50+ = good.

3. Can you show the results of three past patients?

Real before/after photos — an actual patient (not a digital model).

4. What is the greatest risk? How do you handle it?

If the surgeon avoids talking about risks — a warning sign.

5. In which clinic will you operate? Does it hold a certificate?

A clinic certificate and registration with the Ministry of Health are essential.

6. Who will handle the anaesthesia?

The anaesthetist must be certified. Better still if they work in the same clinic as the surgeon.

7. Will the suture or a cosmetic dressing mean staying 1 night at the clinic?

With some procedures — yes. "You can leave the same day" may be the wrong answer.

8. Which medicines will I take during recovery? What are the side effects?

They should name the specific drug and its dose.

9. If I am not happy with the result, what are the terms for a revision (repeat) operation?

Some surgeons carry out a revision free of charge within 6 months. Write the terms down concretely.

10. Is it possible to get an answer on WhatsApp within 24 hours?

The most important question — how reachable is the doctor if a problem arises during recovery?
