About this procedure

Removal of excess fat tissue in various areas of the body (abdomen, this, armpits) with a special vacuum system.

Who is it for?

Suitable

  • People close to a normal weight who have localized fat deposits (abdomen, flanks, thighs, arms, under the chin) that are difficult to reduce with diet and exercise
  • People with good skin elasticity, whose skin can comfortably adapt to the new contour after surgery
  • Candidates who view the procedure not as a weight-loss method but as a way to refine body contour and correct shape
  • Men seeking treatment for issues such as localized chest fat (pseudo-gynecomastia)
  • People whose general health is suitable for surgery and whose weight has remained stable in recent months
  • Candidates with realistic expectations who do not smoke or are willing to quit before the operation

May not be suitable

  • People with a high degree of obesity who view liposuction as a weight-loss method — weight management is recommended first in such cases
  • People with significantly reduced skin elasticity and a large volume of sagging skin — in such cases an alternative like abdominoplasty may be more suitable
  • People with a bleeding disorder, a history of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), or an uncontrolled chronic illness
  • Women who are pregnant
  • Patients with an active infection or an unhealed skin problem in the area to be treated
  • Candidates with suspected body dysmorphic disorder who expect an unrealistic, "completely flawless" body shape

Suitability is confirmed only at a doctor's examination. Results are individual.

The process step by step

Anesthesia: Local (tumescent) or general anesthesia — depending on the number and extent of areas · 1-3 hours
  1. 1

    Initial consultation(30-45 minutes)

The plastic surgeon evaluates the problem areas, skin elasticity, and the thickness of the fatty tissue. The patient's expectations are discussed and realistic outcome limits are explained.

  2. 2

    Medical examination(1 day)

Blood tests and a general health assessment are carried out, and suitability for the type of anesthesia is checked.

  3. 3

    Surgical planning(1 session)

The choice of technique (tumescent, laser-assisted, or VASER liposuction) and the number and sequence of areas to be treated are finalized together with the patient.

  4. 4

    Anesthesia(15-30 minutes)

Depending on the number and extent of areas, local (tumescent) anesthesia or general anesthesia is administered.

  5. 5

    Surgery(1-3 hours)

Fatty tissue is removed in a controlled manner through a thin cannula inserted via small incisions. Several areas can be treated in the same session.

  6. 6

    Initial recovery and observation(24 hours)

A compression garment is fitted immediately after the operation, and the patient is monitored briefly.

Recovery process

Week 1

Swelling, bruising, and localized soreness are felt most during this period. The compression garment must be worn continuously to support the treated area.

Restriction: Heavy physical activity and hot pools/saunas are not recommended. The length of time off work depends on the area treated.

Weeks 2-4

Swelling gradually decreases and most patients can return fully to daily activity. The contour becomes noticeably clearer.

Restriction: Intensive sports are still not recommended; the compression garment continues to be used.

1-3 months

Most of the residual swelling resolves, and the body contour becomes more defined.

Restriction: Special restrictions ease, but maintaining a stable weight is recommended.

3-6 months

The skin fully adapts to the new contour and the final result emerges.

Restriction: No special restrictions.

Risks and transparency

Every surgical procedure carries risks. Transparency is the basis of trust for us.

  • Swelling, bruising, and a temporary feeling of numbness
  • Possibility of contour irregularity (waviness)
  • Temporary firmness under the skin (fibrosis)
  • Risk of seroma, bleeding, or infection
  • Change in sensation in the treated area
  • Rarely, the possibility of internal tissue injury — this risk is minimized with an experienced surgeon and proper technique
  • Possibility of asymmetry or deviation from the expected outcome, and rarely, the need for revision
What does the price depend on?
  • Number and extent of areas to be treated
  • Chosen technique — tumescent, laser-assisted, or VASER liposuction
  • Type of anesthesia and length of surgery
  • Clinic equipment and stay conditions
  • Surgeon's experience
  • Post-operative compression garment and follow-up visits

Frequently asked questions

How much does liposuction cost, and what does the price depend on?

The price varies depending on the number of areas treated, the technique used (tumescent, laser, VASER), and the type of anesthesia. An exact price can only be given after an in-person consultation and examination — you can book a free consultation for this.

Is liposuction painful?

In operations performed under local anesthesia, pain during the procedure is minimal, and under general anesthesia none is felt at all. Mild to moderate pain and soreness occur in the following days, which is managed with pain medication.

When can I return to work after the operation?

Office-type work can usually be resumed within a few days to a week. This period may extend depending on the number of areas treated and for physically demanding jobs.

Is liposuction a weight-loss method?

No. Liposuction corrects localized fat deposits that are hard to reduce with diet and exercise; it is not an overall weight-loss method. The best results are achieved in people at a stable weight.

How long-lasting is the result?

The removed fat cells do not return, but significant future weight gain can change the contour through the growth of the remaining fat cells. A stable weight is the main factor in preserving the result.

Does a scar remain after the operation?

The incisions where the cannula is inserted are very small (a few millimeters) and become practically invisible over time.

What is the best season for liposuction?

Medically, a specific season is not a requirement. Some patients prefer the autumn-winter months to comfortably conceal the compression garment.

How many areas can be treated in one session?

This depends on the patient's overall health and the volume of fat that can safely be removed. The surgeon proposes a plan within safe limits during the consultation.

What is the difference between tumescent, laser-assisted, and VASER liposuction?

In all three methods, fat is removed via a cannula, but laser and VASER techniques apply additional energy to soften the fat beforehand, which can help with skin retraction in some cases. The suitable technique is chosen based on the area and skin quality.

Does liposuction solve the problem of cellulite?

No, liposuction reduces fat volume but does not affect the connective tissue structure that is the main cause of cellulite (surface skin dimpling). Discussing realistic expectations about this in the consultation is important.

How long should the compression garment be worn?

Continuous use for several weeks is usually recommended; the exact duration depends on the volume of the treated area and the doctor's instructions.
