Recovery after rhinoplasty: a 30-day guide
Tibbi məzmun Op. Dr. Elvin Əliyev tərəfindən yoxlanılıb.
Getting the first 30 days after rhinoplasty right improves the result twofold. What to watch for each week and what to avoid — the full plan.
Rhinoplasty (aesthetic nose surgery) is the most requested of all aesthetic procedures. The success of the operation, however, depends not only on the surgeon but also on the patient's discipline during recovery.
The first 7 days: the critical window
This stage is the most important. The circulation and the lymphatic system adapt to the changes. During this time:
- **Sleeping without a pillow** — your head must be raised (an angle of 35-45 degrees). Sleep on 2 pillows.
- **Cold compresses** — for the first 48 hours apply a cold compress for 15 minutes every hour (so that the swelling under the eyes goes down).
- **Do not wipe the nose** — for 3 weeks, tears and nasal discharge must not be wiped with a tissue; let them run.
- **No physical load at all** — including straining (washing your hair and bending forward count too).
Days 7-14: the first check-up
The surgeon removes the nasal cast or makes the first change. At this stage:
- The swelling goes down by 60%
- The suture sites are protected
- Painkillers are no longer needed
Days 14-30: back to daily life
Most patients can return to work after 2-3 weeks. However:
- **3 weeks without sport** — blood pressure must not rise
- **6 weeks without glasses** — the bridge of the nose is not ready yet
- **3 months of sun protection** — SPF 50+ is essential
Conclusion
Be patient. The final result becomes visible after 6-12 months — until then, small amounts of swelling are normal.
